Aurelius Town Court

Analysis and commentary: The Aurelius Town Court is located in the small township of Aurelius, just west of Auburn, New York, in Cayuga County. The court is located at 1241 W. Genesee St Road
Auburn, NY 13021-9566. Only about 3,000 people reside in the community; which is located on the northern tip of Cayuga Lake. Aurelius was named for Marcus Aurelius, born 121 AD, who became the Roman Emperor from 161-180 AD and who was known as the last of the “Five Good Emperors”.

Aurelius Town Court handles the disposition of vehicle and traffic citations, minor criminal offenses and town ordinance violations. The court can be found by traveling west, from Auburn, on West Genesee Street Road/Route 326 until you come to a 4-way stop, then continue on West Genesee Street about 2 miles. The town offices are on the right, just before the railroad tracks. Aurelius is located near the State Route 5 highway and Interstate 90.

Points of interest in the Aurelius area include:
• Seward House Historic Museum; named for William H. Seward, a former New York State Governor, United States Senator, and Secretary of State to both Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson,
• Cayuga Lake State Park,
• Women’s Rights National Historic Park.

Court is in session on Wednesdays at either 8 a.m. or 7 p.m.

New York Driver Assessment

New York State imposes a Driver Responsibility Assessment (also known as a DRA) for drivers who accumulate six points or more are earned on the driving record. Call our lawyers now at 800-893-9645 for a consultation.

A driver's license will be suspended if they fail to pay the New York Driver Assessment. This fine also applies to out of state drivers. Driver safety courses will not reduce these fines.

Insurance

As far as insurance is concerned, traffic violations and points are included on a driver's record for at least 39 months. When an insurance company views a driver abstract that has accumulated points they may impose a surcharge. Points may remain on a driving record for up to 4 years.
