Analysis and Commentary: The Town of Pitcairn has a population of 846 according to the U.S. Census (2010), and covers 59.5 square miles of land, situated in southwestern St. Lawrence County, New York. The town includes six hamlets, but no villages; it was first settled, in 1825, in the area of Portaferry Lake on the east side of town. The Lewis County border is also the southern limit of town, which is partially within Adirondack State Park. Elevations to the north include Baldface Hill and Copper Hill.
The hamlet of Geers Corners is located along New York State Route 812, in the southwestern section of town, and the hamlet of Pitcairn is situated on State Route 3.
