The town of Smithville has a population of 1,330 (2010 U.S. Census), and covers almost 51 square miles at the western edge of Chenango County. The town offices are located in the Smithville Community Center. The area is served by New York State Route 41, which intersects State Route 220 north of Smithville Flats.

The Town of Smithville holds court on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center.

The Town Clerk’s Office will open by appointment, as needed. The regular hours of operation are:

  • Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday: Closed
