The town of Stockholm contains 12 hamlets within its limits, including the hamlets of Stockholm Center, West Stockholm, and North Stockholm. The town covers 94.3 square miles along the St. Regis River in northeastern St. Lawrence County. Stockholm has a population of 3,665 (2010 U.S. Census). The area is served by U.S. Routes 11, 11B and 11C, and New York State Route 420.

How to Enter Your Plea

Not Guilty Plea: If you would like to fight your ticket, you would need to enter a not guilty plea. Instructions on how to do so are provided on your ticket.

Guilty Plea: If you enter a guilty plea, this is the equivalent to being convicted after a trial. There are many long-term financial consequences to pleading guilty. Some of these include high fines and fees, insurance increases and points on your license.

The Court Clerk is available every Monday – Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a closure during the lunch hour from Noon to 1:00 p.m. Court is held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month starting at 6:00 p.m.

Tip: Please be sure to arrive early to your court appearance. If you arrive late there is a chance that your case was called while you were absent.

Prior to coming to court, be sure to bring your court notice advising you to appear. Some court personnel may use it as a reference point when you arrive in court.

Security: Immediately prior to entering the court, you will be asked to walk through a magnetometer and asked to turn off all electronic devices. The court is secured by special court attendants. These officers help facilitate the court process and one of their key function is to note attendees who arrive to court. Your failure to check in with one of the officers may result in your case not being called.
