The tiny town of Cayuta boasts a population of 556 (2010 U.S. Census) and covers just over 20 square miles in southeastern Schuyler County, New York. The Cayuta Creek flows through town and joins Pony Hollow Creek before flowing southeasterly to the Susquehanna River. NY State Routes 13 and 224 intersect at the hamlet of Alpine Junction on the northern border of Cayuta.
