The town of Cheektowaga is the site of the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, and contains both Empire State College and Villa Maria College within its borders. The Village of Sloan is contained within the boundaries of town at the border of Buffalo. Interstate highways 90 and 190 pass through town, and U.S. Route 20 runs concurrently with NY State Route 78. Numerous other NY State Routes also traverse the area.
