Analysis and commentary:  In general, tickets issued by the Mamaroneck Village Police are prosecuted by the police department.  Meanwhile, moving violations issues by the State Police are prosecuted by the Village Prosecutor.  The village has gained a reputation for being a very safety first oriented municipality. Prosecution in three stages:  In general, traffic matters in Mamaroneck Village Court are handled in three stages.  While the process is more complex, I've condensed the process here for you quick edification.  First, tickets are either prosecuted by the local police officer that issued the summons or the village prosecutor.  At some point during the litigation process, you will have an opportunity to discuss your matter with the prosecutor. Some common violations issued are VTL 1180 (b), VTL 1180 (d), VTL 1225-c, and VTL 1163.  Each of these violations carries a point against your license and can cause an insurance increase which may cost you hundreds of dollars for years to come.
