Q. Where is Angelica Town Court located?
A. 49 Park Circle
     PO Box 688
     Angelica, NY 14709-0688

Analysis and Commentary: The Town of Angelica has a population of 1,403 and covers 36.5 square miles, according to the U.S. Census (2010). Geographically speaking, the Genesee River flows through part of the Town of Andover, which is also the location of Bald Mountain. The Interstate-86/New York State Route 17 passes through town. It should be noted that State Route 17 is being renamed Interstate-86 as it is upgraded by the New York State Department of Transportation.

The Town of Angelica was first settled in 1802 and named after Angelica Schuyler Church. It is believed that the pulling of ‘political strings’ helped with the naming of Angelica, since Alexander Hamilton’s sister-in-law was named Angelica. The Town is known for a number of sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places:

    •    Old Allegany Courthouse, which is the location for Angelica Town Hall,
    •    Belvidere
    •    Moses Van Campen House

Notables Calvin Fairbank and Oliver Willcox Norton lived in Angelica. Norton is famous for being the first bugler to ever play “Taps”, which was written, on the spot in 1862 at Harrison’s Landing, by General Daniel Butterfield, who formed the 83rd Pennsylvania Volunteers.

Town Court is scheduled for every Thursday beginning at 7 p.m. District Attorney night is 1st Monday of each month, beginning at 5 p.m.
