Pelham Town Court adjudicates thousands of traffic violations each year including but not limited to speeding tickets, cell phone violations, and suspended license cases.

The court is located at 34 Fifth Avenue in Pelham New York in the southern region of Westchester County.  It is surrounded by the Bronx, the City of Mount Vernon and the City of New Rochelle.  This court’s jurisdiction is encompasses both Pelham and Pelham Manor.

The court is conveniently located a few blocks away from the Hutchinson River Parkway and the Metro North train station.  The court does not have a dedicated parking lot for its visitors.  However, there is ample metered parking on the street.  

Court is held on various days of the week.  Criminal cases tend to be heard at their night court session while moving violations tend to be heard during their day court session.

The wait to see a prosecutor and judge can be substantial depending on the amount of cases that are scheduled and the law enforcement agency that issued the summons.  It is advisable to arrive on time and be prepared to wait.  The worst thing you can do is arrive late for court and find out that your case was adjudicated without you being present.

Pelham is a full service local court that has the authority to adjudicate criminal cases including misdemeanor cases and some felonies.  It can also adjudicate civil cases including but not limited zoning code violations, landlord tenant cases, and small claims cases.

There are two presiding justices in the court.  They are elected and alternate court dates.  

The vast majority of cases heard in this court stem from the Vehicle Traffic Law.  Two of the most frequent sections are VTL 1180b and VTL 1180d.  Both charges are variations of a speed ticket.  A large number of speeding violations are issued along local roads as well as the Hutchinson River Parkway.
